Formula Indie Sessions _ Interview with MELOPHANTS
What is your earliest memory connected to music?
Our earliest musical memories go all the way back to early childhood education classes, where both of us first connected with sound and rhythm. We each started piano lessons at the age of six, which really set the foundation for everything that followed.
How did your passion for creating music begin?
Music has always been in our blood — we both come from very musical families. Thanks to early musical education, that initial spark never faded and naturally grew into a passion for creating our own sounds.
What’s the story behind your current music project?
We actually met online in 2019 and started producing together shortly after. During the pandemic, our collaboration intensified through countless online sessions. Even today, because we live far apart, we still work mostly online.
How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?
Our music is built around emotional melodies — that’s always the core. We don’t limit ourselves to one genre, which gives us the freedom to blend different influences and create something that feels fresh each time. Over the years, this approach has helped us develop a unique: melodic, atmospheric, and shaped by whatever inspires us in the moment. It’s less about fitting into a category and more about expressing a feeling in the most authentic way possible.
What is one thing you’ve learned that completely changed the way you make music?
Mixing as we produce has been a game-changer, because it lets us hear the track closer to its final form from the start. Getting feedback from friends, checking the mix on different systems, comparing to trusted references, and realizing that “less is more” has all helped us avoid overloading our songs.
What tools, instruments, or software are essential in your creative process?
The piano is always our first go-to for finding melodies, and guitar plays a big role too. On the software side, we mainly work with Cubase and Ableton Live.
How have your personal experiences influenced your music and artistic vision?
Since we both learned piano, acoustic and natural instruments often find their way into our productions. We also create across genres because we personally listen to a very wide range of music.
What emotions or messages do you hope listeners take from your work?
We hope listeners feel the same emotions we had while creating the music and connect with the message we’re trying to express.
What’s the most important lesson music has taught you so far?
The industry often looks different from the inside than from the outside. Streaming numbers depend heavily on big playlists, connections, and labels, which makes it tough without the right network but it also taught us to stay focused on the art itself.
What is a dream venue or festival you would love to perform at?
Tomorrowland would be an absolute dream. Marcus has been there five times already.
If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be and why?
Coldplay or more specifically Chris Martin. We’ve been huge fans for years, and his voice is truly unique.

Looking toward the future, what’s your dream for the next chapter of your musical journey?
We want to keep growing every year and focusing on achievable goals for example, hitting our first 100k streams on a single, which we’re on track for next year. And of course, we hope to collaborate with well-known artists.
What do you hope listeners will discover about you along the way?
That we make music because we truly want to and not because we feel we have to. That we’re doing our own thing without chasing trends, and that we release only what we genuinely feel and enjoy. The most important thing is not to lose the fun.
If you want here you can add a representative Youtube video to insert below the interview 🙂
We were invited to a radio interview to present our single “Feeling To Stay.” During the visit, we ended up shooting a small, unplanned music video that captures the vibe of the moment perfectly:
