Formula Indie Sessions _ Interview with Ehson Hashemian

What is your earliest memory connected to music?
My earliest memory is playing piano as a child for fun without knowing anything about the chords or notes.
How did your passion for creating music begin?
My passion for creating music began when I heard The Beatles for the first time. Also, jamming with musician friends at an early age.
What’s the story behind your current music project?
I am currently just writing and recording music as a one man band solo project. After leaving my previous band in 2009, I took a long break from making music, and just started writing and recording again a couple years ago.
How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?
Most of my music has an indie rock sound with a bit of an island feel, though I am currently also gravitating towards making more electronic dance music.
What is one thing you’ve learned that completely changed the way you make music? I learned how to become very picky on every little sound in the music, including the
overall harmonics. This helped me really bring my ideas from my mind into the actual sound recordings in the studio.
What tools, instruments, or software are essential in your creative process? I have a midi keyboard, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, bass guitar, and drum set for
instruments. For recording and also experimenting with sounds, I use the Universal Audio Apollo, and the software called LUNA .
Which indie artist or song are you loving right now?
I have always been a big fan of The Strokes.
How have your personal experiences influenced your music and artistic vision? Going through personal hardship really pushes me to try my best when making music,
as I find it as a way of escaping into a different world where things aren’t so bad. The better my music turns out, the less I suffer.
What emotions or messages do you hope listeners take from your work? I hope people feel a deep sense of connection, and also they enjoy the different vibes I
create. I hope they can relate to the lyrics and also feel refreshed to hear new sounds they haven’t heard before.
What’s the most important lesson music has taught you so far?
The most important lesson is to always stay true to myself, and just make music to have a good time and not to chase commercial success.
What is a dream venue or festival you would love to perform at?
Glastonbury
If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be and why? Fela Kuti, because he is my favorite artist of all time.
Where can our listeners follow and support your music? (Website,Spotify, IG, links) My official website: www.ehsonhashemian.com

Looking toward the future, what’s your dream for the next chapter of your musical journey?
I hope to make a difference in more people’s lives by providing them with new music that they can enjoy.
What do you hope listeners will discover about you along the way? That I really try my best, even though I have a very difficult life.
