Formula Indie Sessions _ Interview with Matias Castro

matias castro

What is your earliest memory connected to music?

– My first memory with music takes me back to my childhood; at the age of 5 I sang for the first time on a stage and I remember falling in love with the people and their applause.

How did your passion for creating music begin?

I wrote my first song at the age of 13, inspired by a young love; perhaps even then I saw music as a way to channel everything I felt, everything that happened to me.

What’s the story behind your current music project?

ANIMARSE arises from the need to share a little about my way of life, taking risks for what one loves, and trying to leave a deep mark on every step we take.

How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?

My sound varies with each song; each one dictates the instruments that should be used, the structure—it’s a truly dynamic creative process, and I love fusions: funk, pop, rock, etc.

What is one thing you’ve learned that completely changed the way you make music?

I learned to be real, to be honest with myself and with people

What tools, instruments, or software are essential in your creative process?

I compose songs accompanied by my guitar; I rarely use the piano, but my guitar is my eternal companion.

Which indie artist or song are you loving right now?

I always liked Franz Ferdinand

How have your personal experiences influenced your music and artistic vision?

They influenced all my work, in its entirety, since each song is based on my own experience or that of someone close to me.

What emotions or messages do you hope listeners take from your work?

This life is truly lived if you love.

What’s the most important lesson music has taught you so far?

Through it we vibrate, give and receive energy

What is a dream venue or festival you would love to perform at?

Where what I have to say makes sense and where I can touch someone’s life

If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be and why?

I’ve admired Sting since I was very young, it would be an honor to share a song with him

Where can our listeners follow and support your music? (Website,Spotify, IG, links)

Looking toward the future, what’s your dream for the next chapter of your musical journey?

I am what you see, honest with life and with the path
