Introduction:

Music is more than sound to us; it is the space where science meets spirit.

We are Scientists Of Spright – ‘SOS’ for short.

In case you’re wondering, ‘spright’ is an old word for ‘spirit’ (and not a soft drink).

Our mission is to synergize science with spirituality, weaving curiosity and consciousness into every note and fostering oneness among scientists, spiritual seekers, and dreamers of every kind.

At our core, we are a duo of songwriters and composers – ‘Apprentice Of Synergy’ and ‘Orbit Of Serenity’ – some answers reflect our unified voice, others come from our individual perspectives.

What is your earliest memory connected to music?

Orbit:

I grew up in a home where music was always playing, even amid the bustle of family life. From an early age, music itself became a kind of home for me – a place of emotional refuge and a source of joy, lifting my spirits on even the loneliest of days.

Apprentice:

At one point in my childhood, I had become immersed in a Disney movie – so much so that I asked my parents to buy me the soundtrack. I listened and listened, and, as its tracks eventually lost their novelty, I began investigating similar sounds. I turned to new-age artists and, shortly after, alternative rock, developing a habit that exposed me to music across many genres, with each new encounter uniquely shaping my musical identity.

How did your passion for creating music begin?

Apprentice:

As a teenager, my older sister was learning guitar and even recorded a few original tracks in a studio. I remember thinking that was awesome – so I asked her to teach me a little. Ever since, I’ve fallen in love with writing lyrics and melodies privately, expressing myself poetically, and trying to emulate the artists who influenced me.

Orbit:

From a young age, I enjoyed listening to music on the radio and singing in a variety of styles and colors. I loved curating playlists for myself and friends, arranging them to reflect different moods and feelings. I often found that I could help close friends in despair through my playlists.

I was fascinated by artists whose lives were transformed by music – and who, in turn, inspired others – I wanted to experience and share that transformative power myself.

What’s the story behind your current music project?

Every story has a beginning… ours began with a single profound insight about science and spirituality. It was a message we wanted our future selves to remember, that we also felt compelled to share with the world.

Shortly after recording the first song, we realized there was so much more to explore and express within this new frame of mind. That realization turned the project into an odyssey, one that continues to unfold and evolve to this day.

How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?

Describing our sound is tricky, because we don’t confine ourselves to a single genre. We experiment freely, blending styles in an attempt to connect with as many listeners as possible.

What truly defines us, however, are our meaningful lyrics, which lie at the heart of our compositions, with the music serving as a canvas upon which we sonically paint our ideas. We often aim to keep our words simple and relatable, while still leaving layers of meaning beneath the surface, longing to be unearthed by the attentive listener.

That said, our fans have described our debut single as “mesmerizing,” “mystical,” and “soul-penetrating,” saying it carries the listener on a journey through unseen realms of the cosmos.

What is one thing you’ve learned that completely changed the way you make music?

Orbit:

I learned that the digital revolution in music has opened the door to designing far more complex and layered forms of sound than traditional methods ever allowed.

Apprentice:

For me, it was definitely the initial insight we mentioned – the one that sparked the birth of this project. Before that, I was writing personal and relationship songs like most artists do. That epiphany has since filled my life with newfound meaning and a rich well of inspiration to draw from.

What tools, instruments, or software are essential in your creative process?

While our inspiration is boundless, our tools are humble: acoustic guitar, synthesizer, and our own voices are the main ingredients in the SOS creative process.

For software, we mostly rely on simple text editors, though sometimes nothing beats pen and paper.

We trust intuition over convention, letting our instincts guide every step of our craft.

Given our modest budget, we handle as much as we can ourselves – yet we hope our passion and dedication shine through in every piece we create.

Which indie artist or song are you loving right now?

As emerging indie artists, we’re still discovering the indie scene, but we admire artists who push boundaries and tell stories in fresh ways. Exploring new music is central to our adventure.

How have your personal experiences influenced your music and artistic vision?

Orbit:

Personal circumstances and losses in my family gave me a new outlook on life and stirred thoughts I hadn’t considered before. These experiences have deepened the emotional core of our music and shaped my approach to songwriting.

Apprentice:

I grew up with a strong scientific foundation – my father is a university professor, and I used to immerse myself exclusively in the sciences.

Yet ever since the revelation that sparked this project, my spiritual side has expanded, intertwining with my scientific understanding through the people, concepts, and experiences I’ve encountered along the way. This blending of science and spirituality fuels our compositions and gives meaning to our vision of uniting these seemingly opposing worldviews – and, in so doing, connecting people of diverse perspectives around the planet.

What emotions or messages do you hope listeners take from your work?

We seek to evoke emotions we consider essential to humanity’s continued evolution – serenity, compassion, intrigue, and hope, to name a few.

While our work carries many messages, the primary one is that science and spirituality can, and do, coexist within the greater reality we all inhabit.
We hope each listener discovers their own path into our world, thereby awakening to new notions and possibilities.

Once our music opens this realm to them, listeners can deepen their awareness through our website, its forums, and the community we are nurturing.

In time, as we bridge these two currently separate viewpoints, we aspire to weave the diverse threads of humanity into a single, harmonious tapestry.

What’s the most important lesson music has taught you so far?

Orbit:

Music has taught me that there is always something new to learn and that our thoughts can continually evolve. It has revealed to me the enduring power of hope.

Apprentice:

Music has an extraordinary ability to influence and connect people, speaking to virtually all human beings in a shared, universal way. In an age where literature’s influence is waning, we see it as a concise, potent, and nearly contagious medium for spreading our messages.

What is a dream venue or festival you would love to perform at?

In the long term, our dream, guided by our vision, is to perform for as many people from as many cultures as possible. For now, acoustic online performances are the most effective way to reach that goal. But when the opportunity arises, we would love to perform in venues across the globe – from city centers to festivals celebrating self-expression and creativity – wherever we are welcomed.

If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be and why?

We would love to collaborate with any artist who shares our dream of unity and possesses strong expressive power to help us get our message across.

Similarly, if anyone reading this and listening to our music wishes to perform or record a cover of one of our songs, you have our wholehearted approval and deepest gratitude. Should you wish, we warmly invite you to reach out to us for support during the process.

The more our sound waves spread, the stronger the ripple becomes.

Where can our listeners follow and support your music?

Looking toward the future, what’s your dream for the next chapter of your musical journey?

Our journey has only just begun. Many songs, videos, and other forms of content are underway, waiting to come to life.

We’d love to see more and more people resonate with our music, engage with it, and eventually explore our ideas for themselves.

At the same time, we aim to continue broadening our own understanding – for no student of the universe is ever finished learning.

Our goal is to share our vision of oneness, sparking vitality and connection in every lyric and every chord.

What do you hope listeners will discover about you along the way?

It’s not so much what listeners discover about us, but what they uncover about themselves and their fellow humans. We truly hope our music inspires reflection on the topics we present and the nature of science and spirituality.
We genuinely believe that, if enough people embark on this path of inquiry, the resulting shifts in mindset could significantly contribute to a brighter, more connected future for us all.
