Formula Indie Sessions _ Interview with Lyrics without Boundaries
We are Lyrics without boundaries. A diverse group of performers established in 2024 from different backgrounds and nationalities all brought together for one common purpose.
What is your earliest memory connected to music?
: My earliest music memory was in my hometown of Barcelona, Spain listening to the music my parents used to listen to. They would listen to many different artists, like Manolo Escobar, Joan Manuel Serrat, Mocedades, Isabel Pantoja, Rocio Jurado, Rocio Durcal, Bertin Osborne, Dyango, Raphael, Julio Iglesias, Placido Domingo and Monserrat Caballé.
How did your passion for creating music begin?
: My Father used to sing play the guitar as well as the castanets and my mother used to play the piano so music was always around the house. I wanted to be a DJ, but did not have the money for the equipment needed, so I started writing poetry, and that slowly started transitioning into songwriting…
What’s the story behind your current music project?
: Our current project, La introduccion was based on many different themes and events that were happening in my life at the time of recording it. For example, there are songs like Aferrate a la luz y Ascendere con victoria en mi corazon that deal with trying to overcome the adversity and negativity that life throws at you. There are songs that deal with love, meeting someone new and the stages of a relationship like Una Caricia, Mi invitacion, Eternamente juntos and En el dia de Nuestro Aniversario, and there are songs about dealing with loss like Desde el cielo and Sigues conmigo. Of course there ia also a song about wanting to make it as an artist such as Dame un hit, and about doing it In MyOwn light or Con Mi propia luz.
How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?
: Our sound is ecclectic and diverse just like our music taste. We listen to many different artists and our sound reflects that.
What is one thing you’ve learned that completely changed the way you make music?
: Technology, social media and trends. I started at a time when these mediums were not around and with them now in everything you see, we have come to embrace them in the way that we make music.
What tools, instruments, or software are essential in your creative process?
: GarageBand, Pro tools and My Mac. Without those things, I don’t know what I would do…
Which indie artist or song are you loving right now?
: Changes by Charlie Puth, Die with a Smile by Bruno Mars and Golden by Ejae, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami among others.
How have your personal experiences influenced your music and artistic vision?
: I would be lying if I said that my personal experiences and events didn’t influence our music as well as our artistic vision. I mean as songwriters, everything that we do as well as every song that we write is influenced by those things, so they influence them a great deal.
What emotions or messages do you hope listeners take from your work?
: That life is worth it and that we have a lot to be blessed about. That anything is possible if you are willing to put in the effort, and that no matter how dark and difficult life might seem every once in a while, there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
What’s the most important lesson music has taught you so far?
: That it is not an easy business to get into, but it is worth it as it provides you with a creative way to get your thoughts across.
What is a dream venue or festival you would love to perform at?
: One day I would love to have one of our songs at The Ultra Festival, or be able to perform them there. Our First English album as well as our first Spanish project Sin Frenos ni Fronteras were recorded with that mindset since they were all EDM projects.
If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be and why?
: In the past it would be Michael Jackson and Freddie Mercury. They were iconic performers during their time and it would have been an honor to work with them. Presently, Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga, Neyo, Natalia Jimenez, Luis Miguel, Enrique Iglesias, Ricky Martin, Shakira, Pitbull and Alicia Keys.
