Formula Indie Sessions : Interview with Beau Audio

British Funk Jazz Artist “Beau Audio” explores all genres.
What is your earliest memory connected to music?
I was about 7 years old and my older brother brought home a black Fender Stratocaster. To me it was like a spaceship, so futuristic and rebellious. I was hooked and joined my first band a couple of years later even though I couldn’t play very well, it didn’t matter, it was all image and attitude.
How did your passion for creating music begin?
From the first band I was in, I found an enormous amount of joy at creating my own music, we were not good enough to play other peoples music so we created our own.
What’s the story behind your current music project?
I am revisiting the eternal story of love and lost love. When I start work on a new composition I like to let the song take me to places it feels it naturally wants to go, like a living entity with thoughts and emotions. My latest track has no drums in the opening verses and chorus but uses spacey modern percussion for the extended middle section. This is something I have not done before.
How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?
Beau Audio is a captivating blend of Pop Jazz and Funk.
What is one thing you’ve learned that completely changed the way you make music?
Not to be afraid of deleting ideas even a long way into the recording process. Sometimes taking things away from a track can add a lot more.
What tools, instruments, or software are essential in your creative process?
My keyboard, bass guitar and Logic Pro
Which indie artist or song are you loving right now?
Eddy Puyol ‘Run It Back’
How have your personal experiences influenced your music and artistic vision?
I have played in Pop Punk Funk Rock and Jazz Bands, I like to use all these experiences to create music without boundaries.
What emotions or messages do you hope listeners take from your work?
Music is very powerful and I hope my songs bring joy and hope
What’s the most important lesson music has taught you so far?
To be humble open and friendly. To have this energy always brings the best results when playing with fellow musicians and connecting with an audience.
What is a dream venue or festival you would love to perform at?
The Royal Albert Hall in London would be a blast.
If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be and why?
Bruno Mars, I could learn so much from his song writing, his records sound amazing
