When life gets challenging, as it does for us all, and we are in the midst of internal struggle, turning your attention to a belief that there is power that lies beyond ourselves, to guide us through, can provide the peace and confidence, to see the light at the end of the tunnel and find a pathway out. ‘Cover Me’ is a reflection of this inner journey.. A recognition that by trusting and believing, the gaps in our understanding and experience can be filled or ‘covered’ to transition a feeling of helplessness, to one of hope, courage and strength.
“When I wrote this song, it was an imagination process of looking at what I had, and wanting more.. Wanting to believe that my back was not against the wall.. Realising that the wall was not really there, and that I could go beyond that wall that I was feeling. ‘Cover Me’ was written in Covid-19 lockdowns and allowed me to find a sense of moving from restriction, into freedom.”
Produced by Joshua Hennessy of Pivotal Music, ‘Cover Me’ follows the success of Maria’s previous release, ‘Forever and Ever’, which received coverage from the likes of Music Of The Future, The Sounds Won’t Stop, Please Pass The Indie, Roadie Music, The Further, Lyrics and Threads, Tinnitist and many more, as well as radio coverage with Aussie Grown Radio, WAM Online Radio, 2RRR and King Island Radio.
