v394 is a Mexican songwriter, musician, producer, and
decent person raised on Santa Catalina Island. Yes, that
weird island off the coast of Los Angeles with bison. His
sound is 50% Hyperpop, 27% Hip-hop, and 23% random
smattering of electronic genres. He’s been compared to
an eclectic group of artists including Sophie, Nine Inch
Nails, Crystal Castles, Neon Indian, and a broken car alarm.
Despite having severe hearing impairments, he makes
unconventional, aggressively weird pop music. His main
inspiration in overcoming his hearing issues is the music
video for Blue by Eiffel 65.
He studied music production at Stanford University’s Center
for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics. While at
Stanford, he was the recipient of a Stanford Arts Grant to
create an audiovisual album. He has had his work featured
at the Cantor Arts Center. In 2019, he won a live, 1-hour remix
competition hosted by Native Instruments at MUTEK.
His debut single “Clarity” is the product of his love for pop,
industrial music, and scaring boring people.
