Mother and daughter duo, ‘K-Syran and Benedicta Syran’ from Oslo, form a musical collaboration to join the global campaign in support of women’s rights, with the release of their debut duet ‘We Can’t Go Back’ ready to play in Formula Indie the November 27th

International singer/songwriter, K-Syran, makes one of life’s strongest collaborations, as she teams up with daughter, Benedicta, for their new single ‘We Can’t Go Back’ – out now. As generations join in an interstellar union, mother and daughter use the power of music to make a global statement about women’s rights, supporting International Safe Abortion Day on 28 September.

An original penning by K-Syran, ‘We Can’t Go Back’ was inspired by her daughter, who joins her mum in this generation-spanning song. Using catching, compelling, easily digestible pop beats and lyrics, K-Syran pays tribute to gender equality and female empowerment. This theme of equality stems from Benedicta’s recent thesis on the subject of American abortion laws and changes, which prevent women from having free choice. K-Syran has collaborated with Madeleine Rees OBE,WILPF, Human Rights Watch, and Uma Mishra-Newberry, the executive director of the Women’s March Global, Solidarité Femmes, to create this track to raise further awareness; and signify equality, acceptance and empathy.

“Women need support,” states K-Syran, herself a well-known global activist in women’s rights. “ How can middle aged fat men sit and decide what women are supposed to do with their bodies.”

“What is more powerful than mother and daughter singing together to support free choice over your own body?” comments Benedicta, “If we can’t decide over our own bodies we have lost all choice.”

‘We Can’t Go Back’ comes hand-in-hand with a punchy, visually dramatic video starring K-Syran and Benedicta strutting boldly as they sing to illustrate that women need to stop being walkovers. For the music star who believes we should ‘share it, sing it, shout it’, this latest song demonstrates a woman and daughter who are prepared to use everything in their power to fight for what they believe in.
