Northamptonshire fabulous voice ‘Megzz’ made a modern and incredible track called ‘Checkmate’ ready to debut in Formula Indie the November 24th
Megzz is an independent, unsigned artist from Northamptonshire whose genre spans RnB,
Pop and Neo-Soul. Believing that music is a powerful therapy, Megzz uses her talents to
empower others, promote self-love and speak out about issues such as mental health. Her
debut EP ‘Feel My Love’ (2019) explored these topics and introduced her distinctive sound;
gaining support from BBC Introducing and notable magazines/blogs such as AnR Factory and
Discover Nü. This support continued with her next single, and throughout the pandemic;
where Megzz hosted and performed at virtual gigs to raise money for organisations such as
Black Lives Matter, Womankind and Mind UK.
Her latest single ‘Checkmate’ was released on Friday 13th August and the official music video
was released Tuesday 14th September.

Checkmate is a fun, sassy and empowering Pop/RnB anthem about moving on from a
partner who is playing games in a relationship, or with your emotions; and the video
captures all of these things. The main message of ‘if you play games with someone’s
emotions you will always lose’, is explored both literally and metaphorically in this creative
piece, and oozes confidence and self-empowerment.
Describing this as ‘the start of a new chapter’, Megzz is proud to have written and created
every concept in the video – from the retro gameshow to the modern video game scene,
and is credited as both a creative director and co-director.
