Lindsay-Ontario born songwriter, producer and mixer Close Kicks, also known as Darryl James from internationally successful band, The Strumbellas, has teamed up with Luis Segura Louwop (Los Poetas), who was born in El Salvador and immigrated to Canada as a child before moving to Lindsay later in life. While both artists have seen international success and performed on some of Canada’s biggest stages, their goal is now to inspire those in their community to follow their dreams.

Close Kicks is a songwriter and bassist that co-wrote the hit single ‘Spirits’. The song reached the #1 spot on both the Alternative Radio Chart and the Billboard Alternative Songs chart, with performances on both ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live and CBS’ The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. The #1 single established them as one of the biggest breakout Alternative Rock acts of 2016. In 2017, they won the iHeartRadio Music award for Best New Alternative Rock Artist of the Year, and won the JUNO Award for Single of the Year ahead of Shawn Mendes, Drake, and The Weeknd.

Since his first release in January 2021, Close Kicks has garnered over 200,00 streams worldwide, including placements in the 2021 MLB Hall of Fame Induction Ceremonies, the NHL Alumni Association 2021 campaign, 31 Thoughts Podcast, The Toronto Blue Jays return to Toronto during COVID, and the top 100 CBC’s Searchlight Competition.
