See Your Shadow’s “My Worth” Is Unpredictable And Fun

It’s rare to hear an instrumental-only song these days, so See Your Shadow’s latest single ‘My Worth’ is a welcome change. What the song lacks in vocals, it more than makes up for with blazing guitar riffs, banging drums, and a playful banjo-type motif that carries through the whole energy of the song from start to finish. I could easily hear this play in a soundtrack for a coming-of-age road trip movie, or a cowboy film. What ‘My Worth’ shows is that music is so much more than just a repetitive verse, chorus, verse, chorus structure. It’s so much more than just melody and lyrics – sometimes, the best way to evoke a feeling, an emotion, a story, is actually just through the music itself. ‘My Worth’ is unpredictable and fun – it’s a wild ride that doesn’t need words, because the song’s soundscape paints that picture for you. At about the 2-and-a-half-minute mark, a sick electric guitar solo kicks in and sends the song into overdrive. Clocking in at just over 3 minutes long, ‘My Worth’ somehow manages to capture a feeling of reckless escape and abandon, without any words – and that’s a true testament to See Your Shadow’s talent as artists. More than ‘worth’ a listen, give See Your Shadow’s new single a spin for an unexpected musical journey.
