Formula Indie Sessions _ Interview with Mitch Hunt

What is your earliest memory connected to music?
I am born in Iran and it is and was common back then for family and friends to throw a party. Even a s 5 year old you knew that this was forbidden and music not approved by the regime was not allowed.
So my earliest memory is a big living room of some sort. People sitting on the flor in a big circle. Some played instruments and my mother would sing songs from a famous Persian singer.
How did your passion for creating music begin?
I have always loved music and stated DJing when i was 16. From 1999 – now and got into photography when I was was 25 So getting into some kind of production was always there and I git into logic 5 when you could run it on PC, a friend became my mentor, in 2016 we started our own label and 2018 we parted ways and I kept the label running.
What’s the story behind your current music project?
Well, as ai mentioned I kept the label running. In the beginning I had no plan.. just wanted to get one song on spotify, radio and so on. I managed with it all but the cause was in the wrong place. I wasn’t doing it for me.
In 2018, I switched into a genre that I felt comfortable with and approached my “hobby” as a real job, work schedule, release schedule and mainly.. doing it because I wanted to.
When the pandemic hit I could not work since my main income was from DJing so sending tracks for mastering was out of the question and paying vocalist and so on. Me and my then fiancé talked about children and it didn’t take long before she was pregnant. When my daughter was born I pause my music because I didn’t want to miss out on one single day. I did some smaller projects but nothing serious.
October 2025 I just realised that my daughter was already four years old, pre-school and just a small little human capable of much by her self.
So I set up a plan, a release schedule and got to work every day and been doing so since. December I released my first track after the break and been dropping one single / month since.
How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?
80s, cinematic,
What is one thing you’ve learned that completely changed the way you make music?
There are billions of people.. all have different tastes, standards and personalities. You can’t please everyone and the ones that are hard to pleas are the ones making most noise.. just do it for you. Every song I drop is for me. It’s me sitting during the days in my home studio with a cup of tea, listening to 100 snare drums just to go back and pick the same snare drum I used in the last project. If I like a sound.. I’m probably gonna use it in most of my projects.
What tools, instruments, or software are essential in your creative process?
LogicX; DIVA from UHE, ANA2, SPIRE, Steven Slate everything bundle and waves diamond bundle that i bought a long time ago with 90% discount.
I don’t play any instruments in my productions. I did play the violin when i was younger and I can pick out melodies with a piano but that’s it.
Which indie artist or song are you loving right now?
I really don’t know. Working a s DJ eight till twelve times per month means lots of different venues and events all with different music. So i listen to everything. And i mean everything. The last three concerts I attended was, Celine Dion, Metallica and Pet Shop Boys.
How have your personal experiences influenced your music and artistic vision?
I joke with my wife and tell her that she has to break my heart so I can write something epic. I did my best photographic work when I was was heartbroken in my youth.
As I have grown older I just shift my mindset into whatever emotion I am looking for in the project.
What emotions or messages do you hope listeners take from your work?
Lately my tracks have been leaning the realm of not giving up. It just came naturally with the chaotic terrain of the world. But mostly, hopefully there are people out there just enjoying one or two of my songs and going on with their day.
What’s the most important lesson music has taught you so far?
Music for me is essential. I love DJing..weather its a big stage, wedding, nightclub or a small bar where I can play vinyl.
It’s another world there for anyone to enter. Sit in you car at 2 am and drive home on empty roads with dire straits Brother In Arms, go for a run and listen to Going The Distance.. well.. you get my point.
What is a dream venue or festival you would love to perform at?
To be honest. im not sure. I love playing at bar here in Sweden called Skybar. It’s on the 24th floor and all the DJ’s play Vinyl Only.
If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be and why?
I don’t know if I can place myself with the greats since I can’t even play the guitar. But if we play with the thought and pretend that I can actually play, let’s say the piano I would go with Nina Simone.
But more realistically I would say Tove Lo.
Where can our listeners follow and support your music? (Website,Spotify, IG, links)
Spotify and basically all other platforms.
Looking toward the future, what’s your dream for the next chapter of your musical journey?
I am looking forward to the day my daughter is ready to sing if she wants to pursue that of course. She comes in now and then and tries out the mic but hopefully one day me and her will work on a project.
What do you hope listeners will discover about you along the way?
That I am big big promoter of doing what makes YOU happy. Whatever that is. Create in anyway that suits you, don’t compare, don’t try to please, use the tools you have and have fun.
