1. What is your earliest memory connected to music?

Marc (Singer) and Robin (guitarist), remember watching “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” by Green Day as kids and thinking it was the coolest thing ever. We would grab pencils and bang on furniture, pretending we were a band.

2. What’s the story behind your current music project?

South of Limbo started as a way to escape routines and expectations. Each of us had played in other constellations before, but when we found each other, something clicked. Now we try to create that same sense of release and connection for anyone who listens.

3. How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?

We mix Danish synth-pop with international indie rock. It is a blend of 80s textures and modern energy, influenced by artists from Pet Shop Boys, M83 to The Strokes. It is something you feel the moment it hits. It has always been tough to buy yourself in a genre box, as we are inspired by such different acts.

4. What is one thing you’ve learned that completely changed the way you make music?

When we started writing songs together, we put these expectations on ourselves that every song should be the big closer to our live show. We ultimately stopped chasing the “perfect pop hit” and started writing for ourselves first. Letting go of that pressure made the process more honest and the songs turned out stronger.

5. What tools, instruments, or software are essential in your creative process?

We rely on traditional instruments, but Jeppe’s production skills are central. He turns rough ideas into full sonic worlds, both in recordings and live setups. His work shapes the band’s sound.

Jeppe: I’ve been using the Soundtoys bundle extensively for a long time now. I find that a lot of the presets bring out a lot of fun sounds that help spark creative ideas. I also really like the Valhalla Vintage Verb and Valhalla Supermassive from Valhalla DSP.

6. Which indie artist or song are you loving right now?

Our friends from Bænch just released a new single called “Watch You Go” which is really good. Go-go-go listen:)

7. How have your personal experiences influenced your music and artistic vision?

Our music comes from real experiences, mainly through Marc’s perspective. It is less about documenting life and more about revisiting moments and emotions. That nostalgia mixed with our influences informs both the sound and the stories we tell.

8. What emotions or messages do you hope listeners take from your work?

We want listeners to feel something their own way. The songs leave space for personal interpretation, but for those who dive into the lyrics, there is honesty, reflection, and a raw look at human feelings, flaws and dreams.

9. What’s the most important lesson music has taught you so far? That the best music comes from imperfection and letting go, even though it’s not always easy. That last part is an ongoing learning process. And we feel like that translates to a lot of other things in life.

10. What is a dream venue or festival you would love to perform at?

It is not about one iconic venue. The dream is to tour internationally, playing show after show in new cities, and connecting with people all over the world.

11. If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be and why?

The 1975 would be the dream. Their influence is huge for us, and even a small collaboration would be an amazing experience.

12. Where can our listeners follow and support your music?

Find us under “South of Limbo” on all streaming platforms. We are also active on Instagram and TikTok, where we share new music, live updates, and behind-the-scenes glimpses.

13. Looking toward the future, what’s your dream for the next chapter of your musical journey?

We want to release more music consistently, keep touring, and reach new audiences. Our goal is to keep making music that connects with people, whether they discover us online or at a live show. In the next few months we’re gonna release our debut EP which is a really big milestone for us – we can’t wait to play the songs live, and see the songs live their lifes.

14. What do you hope listeners will discover about you along the way?

We hope they see our honesty and dedication. That the music comes from a real place, that we are exploring our own limits as artists, and that the journey is about connection, both between us and the listeners and among listeners themselves.
