Formula Indie Sessions _ Interview with VERTIGO

Tjim Visconti from VERTIGO
What is your earliest memory connected to music?
When I was a young kid I listened to the Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd records of my father, and the John Lennon MCs of my Mother. When my Cousins came over for a birthday-party I would always form a band with my Cousin Jan, compose some songs with a little help of casio-keyboard. and then we performed it in front of our family. We used tennis rackets as guitars. We also drew the covers of our MCs. Our first Bandname was Catwalk, later Catdead, very much later when we were already twenty our Band was called ‚They called us Hate‘ and then ‚Allsound Omecca’.
How did your passion for creating music begin?
I mean there always was a bond since I listened to the records of my parents. It really kicked in when I discovered Punkrock, Grunge, Hendrix and the Doors with around 14.
What’s the story behind your current music project?
I had quite a few bands in the years where I played the guitar. But the dream was to found my own band, where I would write the songs and sing myself. I sent it out into the cosmos. And then our first Drummer appeared at a pre-wedding-dinner and asked if anyone knew a band he could join. That was the start. Three month later I met Ole on a filmmaker-party. It felt like it was meant to be.
How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?
Simple gritty catchy post post Beatnik Alternative Rock with a Flower-Punkrock Attitude.
What is one thing you’ve learned that completely changed the way you make music? Never compare and trust your instincts.
What tools, instruments, or software are essential in your creative process? Essential is Room and time. Then Guitar, Paper & Pen. And then… getting together.
Which indie artist or song are you loving right now?
„London Dungeon“ from the Misfits. It’s not really Indie but who cares.
How have your personal experiences influenced your music and artistic vision? Every crisis can re-shift ones perspective and All in all is all we are.
The whole thing about writing songs is to deal with your inner life or your perception of life. Music let me live the other spheres of life where I feel rather at home than in daily perception. So that is how music influences me. And I jump in it and it unfolds. It’s a dance. But mostly not a conscious one. But a present one. And some magic.
What emotions or messages do you hope listeners take from your work? Deep Dive, almost a spiritual joy, bliss, exhaustion and states of flow and letting go.
What’s the most important lesson music has taught you so far?
You don’t have to be what others expect of you. If you love your music you are on the right path.
What is a dream venue or festival you would love to perform at?
Another Woodstock maybe.
If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be and why? John Bonham. I really would love to Jam with this guy and record some stuff.
Or David Bowie. I feel we would have a great time together writing Songs that would suit us. I mean that would be huge! …At least for me. Haha.

Looking toward the future, what’s your dream for the next chapter of your musical journey?
We want to record our first Album next year. And touring the world! We had a tour to south-east Europe. So in 2026 we will tour the other parts of Europe, hopefully Great Britain. And soon America, Asia, Africa, Australia and Antartica. How comes that they all start with an ‚A‘? Except Europe! I have to think about that…
What do you hope listeners will discover about you along the way? That we are a fun live-band and that it is always worth to join our shows!
We are constructive neat chaos all along the way.
