Formula Indie Sessions _ Interview with Truth Teller

What is your earliest memory connected to music?
Reply The earliest memory with music, is when I first heard rock, it was Greenday, the famous ‘Dookie’ album. I fell into the distortion sound and the rock vibe since then.
How did your passion for creating music begin?
Reply It wasn’t really serious till I graduated high school. One day I was just walking around the city and I thought it would be great if my music was heard in all those places. My passion for creating music got more serious when I found that the music has power and the fact that it can influence on all our lives, gave me passion for creating a good music.
What’s the story behind your current music project?
Reply The story behind my current music is about telling the truth and honesty. I think this generation is like taking a bullet train. It’s hard to feel how fast we are going nor how the out side view is changing. We seem to miss a lot of things, feelings, words, emotions and the truth behind things. I like to talk about these feelings, emotions and the truth through music.
For example, our latest release, ‘ A Day I’ve Never Met’, tells you it’s ok to be late or miss. I wrote the song when I figured out that it was ok for me to miss sometimes or late, sometimes you try your best but things just don’t go the way you want or expected, and people fall or give up at this point, and I wanted to tell them(and I) that it’s ok becuase it is OK.
How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?
Reply Band Truth Tellers’ sound is based on rock but a lot of different rock sounds. We always try to fit the story into the music so every single song has different sounds. We love to explore with sounds, sometimes you hear overdrived(not distortion) guitars with heavy double kicks. We also try our beset for the quality of music (e.g. latest single was mixed by Black Kyle). To someone who has never heard our music, it won’t bore you and with the lyrics you will find easter eggs inside the sound.
What is one thing you’ve learned that completely changed the way you make music?
Reply I guess everyone face the technical issues while making music. For me, it was more fundamental thing. You can make music with just a pen, paper and a guitar. It was the actual content of the music that I started to focus on. It totally changed the way I make music.
What tools, instruments, or software are essential in your creative process?
Reply For the tools, I like to keep it familiar and simple, I use Logic pro, PRS Cu24, and Ample sound bass, and few drum instruments like GGD, Addictive keys. There are lot of plugins I use but I basically use most of the fab failter plugins and waves plugins.
Which indie artist or song are you loving right now?
Reply Right now I am into NF’s new release.
How have your personal experiences influenced your music and artistic vision?
Reply I grew up in switzerland. It was when the rock was Kpop. It was time of emos and punk and death metal. I mean, all of us cried or laughed with music we listen to. Those experiences convinced me the power of music. ‘with power comes great responsibility’, I guess that’s how my music vision got influenced.

If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be and why?
