‘The Artist Muneer’s’ Life Has Been A Journey From Darkness To Light And His New Release Reflects It. Discover ‘Dark to Light’ the 8th March in Formula Indie

To hear The Artist Muneer talk about his project is to hear him talk with absolute love and respect for the place
music has in his life. He says of the moment he knew what to do, “I knew that I needed to elevate my game and
do something different that has not been done yet. ‘Dark to Light’ is me saying hello to the world and putting all
my cards on the table out the gate.”
The Artist Muneer has taken a long, winding, and tumultuous path to get to where he is. Now a proud father of
four, his children are his motivation. And taking motivation from his love for them, he will be releasing the first
part of a two-part album on Winter Solstice 2021 (December 21st).
“It started off as a whole bunch of singles that I was making. I was still trying to find my sound while I was
making songs such as ‘The Score’ and ‘Allure’,” Muneer admits with no qualms, “The creative juices were
flowing though, and I didn’t want to waste a single drop, so I striked while the iron was hot.” He acknowledges
that the album was not just the goal, but the motivation: “I decided to release an album as a way to motivate
myself to get these songs done. I knew that they were of no value just sitting in my head so I chose to put them
all on wax.”
The albums started coming together initially around a dual concept idea, a simple one—Darkness to Light: “My
first single on the album is called ‘Dark to Light’. It’s basically me activating the beacon of positivity.” And The
Artist Muneer is all about positivity: he’s had a dark life, but has found his way to the light as a proud father who
can even boast about more than his children; he’s following his passion and it’s working out, with over 100,000
streams between just Spotify and Soundcloud.
He elaborates, “I needed to create a song that crossed over two different energies of Hip Hop music so that it
would resonate with listeners from both sides of the coin (darkness and light).” Muneer has been in the swing of
things for a while and is building a catalog: “At the time I had created this song I had already made a few other
singles. I knew that I needed to elevate my game and do something different that has not been done yet.”
Muneer isn’t just about general positivity, he’s all about positivity in action: through his music, through his faith
in God, and through his concern for causes, “I mean, I know I’m going against the grain but that’s really the
story of my life. It’s not really about making money for me, it’s about making change. Ive done alot of messed
up things in my life.” But those messed up things are behind him and he’s trying to “clear the ledger” with God
and society.
50% of all his album proceeds will be donated to charity. The Artist Muneer has kept his primary focus on his
four children their whole lives. He has them well taken care of and says, “now that everybody’s basic needs are
met I can pursue my music career.” Muneer admits to a “dysfunctional” childhood, in which he’d been jailed
and, without giving us too many details, says he was even involved in setting a significant fire. But, regardless
of where circumstance took him in the past, he’s fought his way to become an incredibly mature and wise adult,
an extremely involved parent, activist, and creator who keeps everything positive for his own spirituality as well
as for his kids. His lyrics are even 100% profanity free–but don’t let that throw you. They are also, simply put,
good: “Life’s a trip but it ain’t a vacation/To cope with it they giving me medication/I don’t take it cuz I don’t like
the sedation/And what it does to my spiritual relation.”
