These different styles might seem quite different from one another, but at the same time, it is quite amazing to understand that there is also a common ground between them, and hangtime’s music actually captures it to absolute perfection. The opening track, “broken ones,” feels like a perfect introduction to the kaleidoscopic sonic collage that makes this release so special.

Each track feels technically diverse, showcasing daring production ideas and unusual sounds. More importantly, the emotion in the vocal delivery is palpable, allowing so much instinct and passion to come through. On tracks such as “inner monster,” hangtime showcases his ability to create textural and cinematic soundscapes to match the energetic roar of the bass, while the beat drives the rhythm steadily. One of the most compelling track happens to be the 11th song, “get bent.” The song comes in with a drum & bass pattern, matching some experimental drones and melodic layers, are the vocals crown the arrangement in a very unique way, almost like ghosts whispering in the background. This track reminds me of artists like Radiohead and Bjork, but with an edgier, more aggressive sound that makes the formula more unique and one-of-a-kind, strong of some thick industrial elements and cutting synthesizers.

Ultimately, this album feels like a true musical journey, and hangtime comes highly recommended if you are a fan of artists such as Nine Inch Nails, Flying Lotus, and Massive Attack. Their sound is in the same league, yet quite unique even when compared to those aforementioned musicians! Right2Repair is complex in its arrangement, but at the core, very direct and easy to relate to, bridging the gaps between various stylistically choices in a more seamless way that unveils hangtime’s spontaneity as a creator and artist.
