‘Ally Cribb’ turns her obstacles into strengths with latest single “Bigger” ready to debut in Formula Indie the 14th February

“Bigger”, the latest single from the Toronto-based singer and lyricist Ally Cribb, acts as her armour. After cutting her teeth with her reimagining of Radiohead’s seminal track “Creep”, accentuating a sense of fragility and vulnerability which belied her sixteen years, “Bigger” is her first original release. A strong sonic departure from the stripped back foundations of “Creep”, Ally Cribb’s latest single reflects her versatility as an artist only warming up for what she can deliver.

Produced by her father, a musician and writer who nurtured her creative expression since childhood, “Bigger” is an anthemic ballad with rousing pop inflections: deeply personal, on the one hand, and yet on the other, carries a universal wisdom that is bound to resonate. “But you can be bigger, bigger / The trick is holding on”, she sings, her voice a lifeline not only for you, but for herself, too.

“Bigger” belongs to her forthcoming EP, “Unbroken”: Ally Cribb’s coming-of-age story, cementing her growth as an artist to be reckoned with.

Speaking on the track, Ally Cribb explains: “Bigger is about breaking through the obstacles that convince us to accept less than what we are. I’ve come to understand failure as a source of strength instead of something I should be scared of. I wrote this thinking about the many things I want to accomplish in my life, and the feeling I get when I close my eyes and picture myself standing on a big stage, staring out into a sea of faces. That’s my dream. And however challenging it might be getting there, this song is my own reminder that perseverance and dedication are stronger than the fear of failure.”
