The producer, influenced by the likes of Four Tet, Leon Vynehall,
Floating Points, Galcher Lustwerk, and others, is searching for a signature sound. Using mainly analog
instruments, change and accidentalness are an integral part of DISCOID’s production process. It is
eminent in the drum machine solo in the single, where the Roland TR-8’s ‘Scatter’ function glitches the
beat at random. The producer had almost no control over this feature, only activating and deactivating
it, but this is exactly what makes this single’s production so special.
Establishing himself as an up and coming artist in Tel Aviv,
following performances in numerous venues in the city, live
sets, radio features, and a full-length album release,
electronic producer/DJ DISCOID releases his new single,
Movable Objects (Click to stream). This single is the first track
by the artist composed entirely using hardware. It captures
the sound of the transition from digital sound to the warm,
analog sound of actual synthesizers and drum machines.
Besides his work in the studio, DISCOID has been working
on exciting new projects. He’s created music for the
HEARTBRAIN installation, presented at Midburn (the Israeli
Burning Man). Additionally, he is the curator of the
installation’s soundtrack, alongside creator, producer, and
DJ Peter Spacey. DISCOID has performed live at ABCradio
and on the Mixtape Weekly Show, broadcasted from
Antenna internet radio, where he was interviewed alongside
fellow creator and DJ La Mer.
In addition, he was hosted at clubs and venues such as
Sputnik Bar, Bavel, Soma Studio, and more.
This single, and all of DISCOID’s live sets, are performed with the producer’s special custom synth
setup. Using it as an electronic band, DISCOID sets out to play with it live all over Israel, while
continuing to produce and collaborate with different artists. 2022 is set to be the year of searching for
a signature sound, with this 2021 release being the kickstarter.
