Nobody should ever be homeless and alone, but this Christmas, as the UK slowly stumbles back on its feet following the pandemic, thousands will experience the worst effects of homelessness – cold, hunger, vulnerability, and no roof over their heads. In this 50th anniversary year of Crisis at Christmas, Jamside Up feat. “Timeless Tim* and MC Burglar, release ‘All She Wants For Xmas” on 3 December, a fundraising slice of reggae warmth, with every penny raised supporting Crisis at Christmas.

Shrink-wrapped tightly around an uplifting reggae rhythm, the poignant lyrics depict the anguish of Christmas on cold winter streets – a melodic heart rending appeal to the fortunate amongst us to spare a thought, and a dime, for those without shelter.. At a time when warmth and safety are taken for granted by most of us, MC Burglar raps that ‘A coin in her cup is never enough, and I know that could be me.‘ All She Wants For Christmas 2021’ was conceived and produced by Timeless Tim to raise much needed money for Crisis at Christmas. Following a fire at his home a few years back, Tim and his family woke up on Christmas morning in a hotel room – not ‘home’, but it made him starkly aware that many wouldn’t even have the luxury of a roof that day.

“Since then, I’ve become increasingly aware of the growing homeless crisis,” comments Tim. “Two Christmases ago, on a high after a party, I was brought down to earth by the sight of a young woman begging, hunched and alone in the Piccadilly rain. This lingering image inspired me to write ‘All She Wants For Christmas ’ with my sister, Kit (of Marshall Hain ‘Dancing In The City’ fame).”

Recorded under the name ’JAMSIDE UP feat: Timeless Time and MC Burglar,’ the project turned out to be the perfect antidote to an arduous course of radiotherapy for Tim’s prostate cancer. He decided to dedicate and direct all proceeds to Crisis at Christmas; because no matter how bad we think our situation is, there’s always someone worse off.
