Fake Friends is the newest single from Gulf Coast hard rock band NVision. The track is the bands second single of the year and features a lot of electronic and hip-hop influence that the band is commonly known for. The single marks a new era of music for the band as they begin to transition into heavier, more metalcore-esque style. The first verse features a breathy, laid-back style vocal that resembles the likes of Bring Me The Horizon. The chorus is rhythmic and catchy, a style often fleshed out in the band’s music. Swelling synths and a metronome bring us into the second verse, which first half follows the style of the first verse, before building up into an epic moment where Carr unleashes some brutal vocals. This second half of the second verse is one of the best vocal displays we’ve seen from the band thus far and really shows that the group is serious about the direction they’re headed in. Some more screams are heard throughout the background of the second chorus, and they add some nice depth while setting up for a big bridge. The bridge contains Carr’s more usual style of vocal, big and in your face, before building up to one last screaming section which transitions brilliantly into the final chorus. Fake Friends is a phenomenal track that encompasses the old NVision known and loved by their fans, while switching gears and positioning them to a new direction that will bring in many new fans.
