Interview with KIMO – On Growth, Sound, and the Journey to “Supernova”

Your new single “Supernova” drops July 18, 2025. What’s the story behind it?

“Supernova” is about that moment when you feel stuck but know you need to evolve. It’s about reinventing yourself, personally and artistically. For me, it also represents a transition into my new sound. It’s a very personal track, co-written with a friend and produced by my main collaborator in London.

Your sound is powerful and immersive. Do you see your music as ‘workout music’?

I think my music vibrates differently for everyone. For some people, maybe it’s perfect to move to  for others, it’s something to sit with and reflect on. It’s all about the emotion you take from it.

How would you describe your sound?

Electro-pop with a mix of atmospheric textures. I’m influenced by artists like James Blake, but I like to explore my own lane within that space.

What’s one thing you’ve learned that completely changed how you make music?

To let go of fear. I’ve stopped comparing myself to others and started creating the sounds I actually want to hear. That mindset shift has been huge.

What tools or software do you use in your studio?

Logic Pro and Pro Tools are my main go-to tools.

Is there a song by another indie artist you’re loving right now?

Yes, Sofya Wang’s “Can’t Stay the Same” has been on repeat for me lately.

What’s next for you?

A new song is coming very soon. Right now, I’m working on refining my craft, traveling to create and collaborate, and preparing to start performing live again.

Where can people follow your journey?

You can find my music on all major streaming platforms, and keep up with me on
