In May 2021, singer and songwriter, OWO will release her new EP entitled SEEDs, an audial ode to her culture and the experiences that shaped the self-described Americanah. “SEEDs” is not only a look at who we become as a result of the people that pour into us but it’s also a celebration of self. Each song bears hard earned lessons that span from vulnerability and sacrifice to the emancipation of one’s being from the expectations of outside entities. It brings a relatability that can be felt across generations and cultures through storytelling narrated by OWO’s strong and sultry vocals blended over melodic Afrobeats and R&B tempos. SEEDs is not just an EP, it’s the perspective of a young woman who is coming into her own and making her mark in the world while being conscious of the fact that she didn’t arrive here on her own.

For background, the project includes her recent single, ‘Think You Are’, as well as, ‘Wastin’ Time’, which Paper premiered last year and Harper’s Bazaar named one of the best pop songs of 2020 along with artists like Dua Lipa and Lady Gaga. OWO is an independent Afropop artist who has been recognized for creating her own genre and opened up for Burna Boy’s ‘African Giant’ DC tour stop. Her sound is a unique blend of afrobeat, r&b, and electro-pop sounds.
