For Shay Walker, the recording process of “All Alone” was as unconventional as it was creative. From recording vocals in his car turned vocal booth to programming drums and percussive elements himself, Shay’s meticulous attention to detail shines through in every aspect of the track. The decision to start with vocals and drums before adding instruments allowed him to craft harmonies and melodies that perfectly complement the vocals, creating a truly distinctive listening experience. As Shay continues to work on new music and grow his audience, his dedication to evolving as an artist promises an exciting journey ahead for both him and his fans.

What’s the story behind your latest release?

Interestingly, the song originally began as an EDM project, and I initially envisioned it with female vocals. However, as the arrangement evolved, it naturally shifted into a dynamic rock piece—which I feel captures the energy and emotion far more effectively.

How work for you the recording process, is something that you made on your own?

I created this track entirely on my own, handling every aspect from writing and performing the instruments to production, mixing, and mastering. This allows me to fully delve into the song, and make it sound exactly as I want it to.

How would you describe your sound?

I find it difficult to define my sound, as my influences span a wide range of genres—and I think that diversity comes through in the mix. For this track in particular, I’d describe it as a blend of pop punk and pop rock, with subtle progressive elements woven throughout.

What’s one thing you’ve learned that completely changed the way you make music?

Many people assume I’m new to producing or releasing music because this is my first single under my real name. In reality, I’ve been releasing music for years under various aliases. Over that time, I’ve learned that the most important thing is creating music I truly appreciate. I write and produce for myself first, without tailoring my work to a specific audience.

What tools or software do you rely on in your studio?

I use Ableton Live as my primary digital audio workstation. For this track, I played a headless Ibanez Quest guitar through my Spark 2 amp and various VST modelers. The bass parts were recorded on a P-Bass, and the drums were programmed using ML Drums.

What’s one song from another indie artist that you love right now?

Figure in the Dark by Delta Sleep. It’s such a beautifully crafted track

What’s next for you? Any upcoming releases or shows?

I have several projects currently in the works, so listeners can expect new music on the horizon. Stay tuned.

Where can our listeners follow your music?

My music is available on all major streaming platforms. I truly appreciate your time and support.
