Yıldırım is an artist from Turkey

What’s the story behind your latest (and first) release?

My debut single, “kasımpatılar,” is a kind of emotional exploration. While writing the lyrics, I reflected on the relationships of a few close friends around me, their romantic exchanges, and then tried to capture what they felt. The energetic structure of the song symbolizes a moment that I believe best represents me. This track was the first significant step on my musical journey.

How do you feel the reception so far, also considering that you are singing in Turkish?

The feedback has been amazing, especially since most of my listeners are of Turkish ethnicity. Singing in Turkish can sometimes be challenging, as the global audience tends to prefer music in different languages. However, I believe I can express the essence and emotion of Turkish music in the best way. It’s such a beautiful feeling to see listeners truly internalizing the song, and it’s rewarding to know that language is not a barrier to connecting with the music.

How would you describe your sound?

I would describe my music as a fusion of indie and alternative rock influences. It has a gradually building atmosphere that draws listeners in, while maintaining a melodic and introspective quality. The unique chord progressions, melodic structures, and the emotional depth in the lyrics create the essence of my sound. I always aim to create a genuine atmosphere in my songs.

What’s one thing you’ve learned that completely changed the way you make music?

I’ve learned that the most important thing in music-making is authenticity, and expressing my emotions sincerely through my music. Instead of trying to imitate other artists or following popular trends, I realized that I need to reflect my own world and self in the best way possible through my music. This realization has completely transformed the way I approach making music.

What tools or software do you rely on in your studio?

The software I most frequently use includes Studio One and Logic Pro. My guitar, microphone, and various synthesizers are also indispensable tools for me. I enjoy experimenting with different instruments and digital tools to create a unique sonic world for each track. This approach also offers a chance to try out new, experimental ideas.

What’s one song from another indie artist that you love right now?

One song I really love right now is “Ah be Güzelim” by the Turkish band “Adamlar.” It has some really beautiful tones. Also, I can’t leave out Tame Impala’s “The Less I Know the Better,” which I’ve had on loop recently. It’s such an iconic track.

What’s next for you? Any upcoming releases or shows?

I’m currently performing at several local venues in Turkey, trying to introduce my sound to a wider audience. On top of that, following my motto “keep going,” I can reveal that new singles are on the way!

Where can our listeners follow your music?
