The new wonderful work of ‘Matthew Liam Nicholson’ is a heartfelt meditation on grief. On what happens when we die and what happens with the feelings of the ones left behind. In a time when so many are experiencing profound change and loss, heart-warming intimacy of “Dusty Bones” is a realm that we can wade into together, reaching out through the murky daylight to hold hands in our shared sadness. Right now as the earth is going through monumental changes,
music is an element that can bind us together as we seek to find
solace, understanding and healing. That is why it is my supreme
privilege today to introduce you to the music of Matthew Liam
Nicholson, who is releasing the first track from his new Universal
Outsider project.
“Dusty Bones” is a heartfelt meditation on grief. On what happens
when we die and what happens with the feelings of the ones left
behind. In a time when so many are experiencing profound
change and loss, heart-warming intimacy of “Dusty Bones” is a
realm that we can wade into together, reaching out through the
murky daylight to hold hands in our shared sadness.
No stranger to the indie rock scene, Matthew Liam Nicholson has
been making music that touches peoples’ hearts for some time.
Previously known under the monikers of AT/ALL, Function
(Ensemble), The Golden Lifestyle Band, Warped & Aunty Theo,
Nicholson sails off now on a new adventure, sculpting his unique
insight and empathy for the human experience into musical
form, under his own full name for the first time.
On “Dusty Bones,” Nicholson reflects, “Dusty Bones was the first
song written after the death transition of my long time best
friend, Hefe, whom I came to Los Angeles to help look after, for
what turned out to be the last month of his earthly life. It was a
very intense, heartbreaking and transformative period, which also
found me in love with Los Angeles and beginning to record what
became Universal Outsider. Dusty Bones is dedicated to Hefe who
brought me to LA and left me there.”
