Delicate and poetic British composer ‘Mark Sutton’ delight us with ‘Velvetine’, which we will listen to on November 1st on the new season of the Formula Indie!

Mark says

I’m Mark Sutton and I started playing piano, learning by ear, at 10 years old. I come from a family of musicians and I’m the seventh child of eight, so I had lots of inspiration from my siblings.

I lived most of my life in Caversham, Reading and currently live in Dorset. I’ve released five albums thus far and I’m building up my portfolio to create another one in the spring of next year. I wanted to try something new with this single and Velvetine is one of the tracks where I’ve used Felted Piano, giving it a more echoing sound, which suits my style of playing.

My music is received through inspirational thoughts and ideas and I sit at the piano and literally play with the notes to see where they take me. I like to create a visual image in my mind while I’m playing which give the tunes a story to build on.
